The new hybrid of bath bombs are presenting challenges of making the perfect sphere along with the boldest color and contrast possible short of coloring the user!  Mica powders that shimmer so well are truly becoming a beloved ingredient in just about everything, including lotion bars to obtain an opal effect, melt and pour soaps, bath salts, lip balms and even bath bombs.  We are now recycling lipstick and making slivers to tint lip gloss or balm later, melting down our cold cream to use as the oil base in cold process and melt and pour soaps, rejuvenating our old mud masks by incorporating them into our new melt and pour soaps and the like

Addressing the problem inherent with packaging, we finally found a neat way to package bath bombs, and that includes a lily or petal type object over the shrinked wrapped ball.  The bomb to the left is lavender and sandalwood.  Below find some inspiration on the new methods and techniques in the bath bomb area:

Vanilla Bomb

Refreshing with Vanilla, Jasmine Flowers, Saffron, Lemon Oil, Orange Oil, Neroli Oil and restraining on any color addition is simply beautiful.  Anything containing Neroli oil is self-evidently absolutely gorgeous because it is good for the skin and delightful for your head; with lemon and orange oils as well, it is impossible to feel anything less than wonderful after an encounter. What’s more the saffron stamens, which appear with the jasmine petals when the Prince starts fizzing, gradually turn the bath water pale gold as you lie there, appreciating its intoxicating scent. It’s the perfect bath.  These recipes can be found in The Bathroom Chemist and our new and revised Self Apothecary.

Ginger Bomb

Laced with Cinnamon Sticks, Ginger Oil, Cinnamon Powder, Ginger Powder, Coriander Oil, Ginger Absolute, Ylang Ylang Oil, Juniper berry Oil, and Gardenia Extract is decadent.

It’s for cold days – so that’s most of them – or days when you’ve got a cold or when you’ve been out in the cold and need warming up right through. It’s good for when you’re feeling creaky after exercising too. Run a warm bath, drop in the Ginger Bomb spices soak right in. There’s warming ginger oil, warming ginger powder and some warming ginger absolute too. Powdered cinnamon is traditionally used to relieve aches, ylang ylang relaxes your muscles and juniper berry oil is said to help relieve stiff joints. A week in the tropics would be lovely but a Hot Java will do nicely.  Ad Emu oil if you need serious healing properties.

Karma Sutra

An intoxicating combination of Patchouli Oil, Orange Oil, Lavender Oil, Pine Oil, Lemongrass Oil, Elemi Oil, Gardenia Extract. Hibiscus powder achieves the plumeria color.

Bubble Bars are made pretty much of a bath bomb mix and a little glycerin or shredded soap flakes.  This bubble bar contains Violet Leaf Absolute, Rose Absolute, Jasmine Absolute, Ylang Ylang Oil Bergamot Oil, Clove Bud Oil, and mica powder.  The embossing was done easily as the item dried.  Metal key chain with insignias, metal letter wax stamps, coins and other everyday objects can be used for the emboss.

Skin Cleansing Bars

Calamine Powder lends itself to this pretty facial cleansing bar.  French pink clay can also be used to achieve a similar effect.  Chamomile, Elderflower, Lavender, Rose, Emu and Tea Tree oils offer soothing and healing properties in this bar set in a white base of glycerin melt and pour or white coconut melt and pour complimented with Marigold Flowers. Keep a note pad by you to recall your "perfect accidents."

The skin cleansing bar above is great because it is made with loads of calming calamine and chamomile and a stack of essential oils to soothe easily irritated skin. If you've troubled skin all over your body please feel free to wash everything with it.

Facial Conditioner Bars

This would be used after cleaning and toning.  This bar is comprised of Coca Butter, Shea Butter, Ground Almonds, and Lavender and Lemon Oil.  You can really isolate which skin conditioners are right for you in the solid fats family. This was poured onto a muslin wrap which offered a nice natural texture to the over all bar.

Designer Deodorant Bars would be a very new concept in the "make your own" apothecary.  The bar above contains a witchazel infusion, in a soy type wax base with baking soda, Chamomile vinegar, and patchouli oil, and opal mica for sheen.

The Deodorant Bar to the left includes Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda), Cream of Tartar, Lavender Oil, Grape seed Oil, Red Wax (can use soy or beeswax), Yang Ylang Oil and Lavender and Rose Absolutes.  Beyond aesthetics, the wax secures the base of the design, offers an easier grip, and the entire piece is delicately accented with dried lavender petals.

Opal Shimmer Lotion Bar

We do not have a photo of this, but it is one of our favorite things to make.  It looks like a big opal and is just breathtaking.  Made of Cocoa Butter, Pink Sparkles and or Mica, with various shades for veins,  Shea Butter, Vanilla,  Clary Sage, and Lavender Oils and a little melted SoyWax™ to ensure form.

We can best describe the Opal Shimmer Lotion Bar as a skin softening, glittering massage bar fragranced with sweet and sexy vanilla, clary sage, which is a potent euphoric, and relaxing, balancing lavender. Makes the skin shimmer with gold dust when stroked onto the shoulders, arms and décolleté.
